DESCRIPTION:

AIWA San Francisco together with the Stanford Armenian Student Association (ASA) will feature a presentation of the book Armenian Wonderwomen by Gayane Aghabalyan and Elmira Ayvazyan, followed by a book sale.

Gayane and Elmira will speak about their four-year journey of co-authoring Armenian Wonderwomen, what led them to embark on this creative project, and how they see their work moving forward. Armenian Wonderwomen is an illustrated children’s book celebrating the lives of 37 Armenian women who were excluded from our history (e.g., historical figures, writers, scientists, artists, etc.) and contemporary women who break stereotypes to pursue their dreams (e.g., dhol player, soccer referee, traveler, etc.). Each story also addresses contemporary issues such as climate change, human rights, inclusion, and more. The book is available in Western Armenian, Eastern Armenian, and English.

The authors will graciously donate a portion of the proceeds to AIWA.
